I spent most of the day in the basement scrap booking. It's the coolest place to be since it was over 100 with the heat index today. These are the cards I've made over the past month. The first one was a birthday card for my great niece Ariana. The 2nd one was a birthday card for my father-in-law. The 3rd one was a card for my granddaughter McKenzie wishing her a great summer filled with lots of ice cream. And, the last one was another card for McKenzie saying that I hoped they were all settled in their new home.

Time For Holiday Cardmaking

We are Scrapping this Wednesday and it's the perfect timeto get busy on those Holiday cards. This Challenge will run for 2 weeks since the following Wed. we will not be scrapping so 2 weeks to cover 2 holidays isn't to bad. I hope!

First off we have Easter it's on the horizons and time to get going on those Easter Cards to send out to Friends and Family.

Then Directly following we have Mother's Day. So while your on a roll with you cardmaking why not create a few Mother's day cards to send to Mom's, Grandma's, Sisters, Family & Friends.

Time to Scrap

We're scrapping Wednesday. This week we will have a timed challenge. We will be working on layouts 1 page or a 2 pager if your an over achiever, you know who you are. Since this is our first timed challenge this year we will start with 60 min. Everyone participating should come with a page kit set up and ready to go. A page kit could consist of Pictures, patterned paper, cardstock, embellishments, journaling(this can be pre done if you like) and a sketch of an idea or idea from another source. When everyone gets settled in we'll start the clock and scrap for 60min.! Fun fun fun! Hope you can make it to play!

Challenge Time - Stamp It

We are meeting this Wed. Well if I get the table cleaned off we are meeting.

This week I challenge you to make something completely stamped. No patterned paper no manufactured embellishments. You may use ribbon or fibers and as much/many cardstock, ink and stamping accessories as you like.

Tighten Your Crafty Belt

It's time to start thinking of ways to use what we have. So this week I challenge you to use up your scraps! We all have them in boxes, envelopes, baggies, drawers, laying all over our work tables! Lets try to use them up to make a sensational project.

We are scrapping this week weather permitting of course. With the big snow predicted we may have to see. Unless Paula wants to drive us to Denny's in the blizzard and we can find a crafty store to be the only people in the world out shopping? So this week we are not scrapping as it's the 3rd Wednesday and the Chicagoland Craft Collective has their meetup. You are all welcome to join us by the way. Tammy is sharing ribbon embroidery which is a beautiful craft she has a deft hand at!

Since we're not meeting our challenge this week is to do something Holiday related. It could be for upcoming holiday prep or getting a head start on the Fall and Christmas Holiday season, which seem to find us always to busy to get to the crafty goodness we all want to get to. Consider starting to make your Christmas cards, tags or handmade gifts. If nothing else January is the perfect time to just make a list of what you want to achieve this year.

This challenge comes from ScrapbooksEtc, they want us to help make a difference through papercrafting!!!! Who wouldn't want to do that? So our challenge this week is to go to http://www.craftforward.com/ and make at least 1 project(more are always welcome) inspired by this website. We will then donate our projects by giving them to Alice who should really be the poster girl for this movement!

We're going to do this one early so if the residents of the retirement home would like to mail Valentine's and you would like to make Valentine's they will have them pretty early. Not that you have to make Valentine related projects, it's just our next card worthy holiday.

On the one week we do not scrap the 3rd Wed. of the month I will post a challenge to complete a Holiday related task, which may be any holiday any item for that holiday. Halloween Is Coming! SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!

It is and will come and go faster than we think! So at this late date I propose a chipboard mini album/tag page swap to start using up some of those Halloween items we've been stashing away! Don't say your not stashing these adorable goodies because I know you are, and BUDDY I totally am! HA

So here's how it will go down. This will be a small swap we'll limit it to max 6 players. When you sign up I will give you 6 chipboard tags(they will be small as to not overwhelm). You will decorate both sides of the chipboard Halloweenie inspired. Each tag should have 1 journaling area, a pocket, at least one item 3D and fibers and or ribbon. I also challenge you to add some Bling to the project and will give everyone including BLING a little prize. Each page should be similar in layout and design. When the swap ends you will get back 1 of your own pages and a max of 5 other pages to create your mini book or you could use these as tags on goodies for the holiday. Sounds fun right! I know I'm excited! So we'll have a short sign up deadline as I'll probably start calling people telling them to sign up shortly! HA Deadline to sign up 9/27/10. Tags should be to me by 10/20/10 and I will get them back to you by 10/22/10. Which is by the way the crop at CraftFancy we are attending everyone is invited to come and play! Just contact the store to sign up!

Ok so my children love to say "lightbulb" when they have an idea. It's very funny. What is not funny is my jones for these lightbulp pendants. I must put a light like this in my house somehwere. I'm currently obsessed with The Brass Petal blog by Emily the new Design Star.

Alice comes out this weekend. Abbi turns 7 this week can you believe it? And awards season with the beautiful dresses and parties is almost upon us! That and there is the prospect of all of the snow being gone by Sunday! What more could we ask for??????

How about a night of Scrapping? I have no challenges except our regular 1 Birthday Card 1 Holiday Card. It will be more catch up time!

Our Olympic night was a success well except for the freak snow storm that cut it a little short. But otherwise we worked on challenges, learned some new techniques, ate food that was super delicious and giggled a lot! No food this week unless we do Double Filets O Fish? Anyone in?

The schedule of events is set for our Olympic SIZED Challenge Evening on the 24th. Have you been training? Let me give you a hint so you know what to pack your backpacks, sports bags etc. with! Make sure you have the equipment needed for your sport. Warm Up Clothes, Water Bottle, Paper Trimmer, Scissors, Favorite Adhesives, Favorite Tools and Ink, Scraps, Current Projects, A Completed Project to share, wrist bands, cheesey 70's headbands etc. etc. etc. WAIT WAIT WAIT this is the WINTER OLYMPICS - Ski Caps, Scarves, gloves, ski pants, casts, hot cocoa etc. etc. etc.

Each day you will get a little more info on one event/challenge/tutorial to prepare you consider these a practice run!

In all of the events in the XXI Olympics there are these wonderful murals on the walls, the vests and everywhere you look. Aren't they inspiring. Why not pack a couple of papers in these colors you never know what challenge may occur?

So each week we meet we will make at least 2 cards 1 Christmas and 1 Birthday. At the end of the year you will end up with 42 of each. Now since maybe everyone doesn't need 42 Birthday or Christmas cards I think you should be able to change one out each week if you so choose to do so. We don't meet the 3rd Wed. so that week you are welcome to work on your own and share here on the blog later.

It was 80 yesterday and today it's fall! Just like that! BAM!

We are scrapping this week same time same place. Here is the weekly inspiration piece. A scene from Pottery Barn. Still some green but the colors are clearly starting to turn.

Ok so this week I would like to issue a scrap challenge. Whatever scraps are sitting on your workspace from this last week(I will clean mine off sorting the giant box today). Use those scraps to create a card or layout. Only scraps, you can add card stock for the background and once the base is built you can add one embellishment from your stash!

Ok DIANNE had a FABULOUS IDEA! Next Wed we are going to do a Challenge! Here is the deal. Each person that wants to play makes up a Baggie of items from paper to embellishments. We then switch and create something with a baggie that is not their own! This sounds like fun and we will have a bit of time to prepare between now and next week! Here is the inspiration challenge for this week from Garnet Hill. There is a lot to choose from, the pattern, the color scheme the glass lamp for a clear element, the poster, the pillows, the quilting on the duvet. I could go on and on there is lots here to inspire you and I just love the soft soothing feel!

Holiday Challenge - No Scrapping This week

So this week there will be no scrapping. My house is contaminated with the stomach flu. First we thought it was just Abs getting over that nasty cold she had..... But alas she went straight into the stomach flu and now Dave has it. ICK.

Anyway I didn't want to skip the challenge so I encourage you to make something holidayish and to give you a little inspiration I've brought you more cookies from TwoSugars. Their cookies are amazing! I think the penguin cookies from earlier in the year were from here as well. I couldn't resist the bunnies.

Or the beautiful Egg platter for Easter.

Of course if you don't want to make something Easter you certainly do not have to you can choose to be inspired by the colors or the way the cookies are on the platter. Or even just the ribbon. Hopefully it will just inspire you to create a pretty this week!

New Month New CHallenge!

I know it's going to be April Fool's Day and I should do something clever. However at the moment I'm not feeling very clever. Sooooo I'm going to go with things that make me happy instead. These colors make me happy, make me wish for spring to be here now and all this gloom to go away. In that line, I challenge you to create something using these happy happy colors! One or all of them it's your choice.

Holiday Challenge - A Bit Different

So this week we're going to do our holiday challenge a little different. I'm going to ask you to bring specific supplies and we will each create one item with those supplies. Here is your assignment if you choose to participate.

Bring with you -

1 Scrap of Holiday Paper preferably wrapping paper however I know some might have stored theirs in a not so easy to reach spot so I will accept a scrap of scrapbook paper.

1 piece of coordinating cardstock(any size)

3(can be more) holiday embellishments from the following list(they can all be the same you just need a minimum of 3)
Buttons
Stickers
Chipboard
acrylic shapes

1 Holiday greeting, this could be a stamp, rub-ons, stickers, cardstock titles etc. you get the idea you need a way to get holiday words on your project.

As always I am promoting the Christmas Holiday to get things done before the Late November/Early December rush. However if you would like to bring items from another holiday you are always welcome to do so. ST. Patties, Easter and Passover are our next big ones so you may choose to work on those or even 4th of July or Halloween it's totally up to you.

Well it's that time of year!! Double Filet-O-Fish is back at McDonald's. Marc stopped there on the way home from basketball on Monday night and we had a late dinner. They were so YUMMY! And, the great part is that I can eat one and not worry about it affecting my blood sugar. Of course I can't have fries but it didn't even really bother me.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and scrapping tonight!

Nature/Texture - Challenge 4th Week February

Pattern & Texture it's all around us in Nature and all around us in Art. Our Scrapbooks and cards should be no different! Here are some inspiring photos for this weeks challenge. You may be inspired by the thistle or the wood grain or just even the color of the serving pieces. Whatever it is create something Nature inspired this week!

We are of course Scrapping tomorrow and at least there will be no fear of a blizzard since it will be over 40 degrees.....

I think someone is making up camp? I have 1 kit left, beyond that, if anyone is interested.

My Shimmery Project

From last weeks challenge. Not like adding sparkle or shimmer is a stretch for me but I did break out some supplies I never use. My LuminArte paints and painted white and black cardstock with the same colors choosing which I like better for each project is fun. Like here I chose the Aqua on black for the background. I also did the same with Acrylic paint. I stamped the stars on some yellow Heidi Swapp painted on black. I stamped the stars and seaweed(exhaust flames) and cut them out. The stamps are all jusjohanna's Odd Bird Planet and I colored the Rocket with my Copics and cut it out. The moon is the Circle Dot Background cut into a half circle and highlighted with a grey Copic. Rub Ons are Doodlebug.

Can't wait to see what everyone does with Shadows tomorrow night!

Happy Groundhog Day

So glad to hear we are going to have challenges. I love a challenge. I was afraid I'd forgotten how to scrap but it's all coming back to me. Here's a few layouts I did today. Don't know if you can see but all of these photos are from Christmas of 2007. Only a year behind (I think)!

January Challenge - Week 1

Getting Motivated for a New Year Here! Dianne is right we need to get this blog going again. So to that end we are Scrapping Wed. of course and I have a challenges for you!

Pick your favorite welly and make a card and or layout inspired by it. I figure by the end of the day we'll wish we had our favorite pair if we need to go out of the house so why not!

Remember for 4 more months we will not be scrapping the 3rd Wed. since Dianne and I are in that Marker Club/Class at Craft Fancy!

Also everyone check out Karen's CM weekend the end of this month. She said I could go on just Friday so I'm checking to make sure I'm not doing other banquet prep the night before and I'll be there!

Looking Forward -------The 2nd week of each month will be a holiday preparedness challenge. I know everyone is sick of Christmas so feel free to substitute your favorite holiday. But the goal is to have your holiday cards, tags, projects and gifts done for next year before the holiday arrives. So get those projects organized for next weeks challenge!
